Vitamin B-1 (Thiamin)
Type: Vitamin
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) is a water-soluble vitamin that is important for carbohydrate metabolism and has a positive effect on energy, growth and brain function. As our bodies cannot store vitamin B1, it has to be obtained from our diet on a daily basis.
Common food sources include fortified breakfast cereal, nuts, legumes and pork. People who lack of vitamin B1 might experience symptoms such as constipation, edema (water retention), fatigue, poor appetite, and irritability.
